Police fine man with unique Toyota LandCruiser cooling solution

Toyota's LandCruiser 70 Series is renowned as being a reliable workhorse, but this example may need to be retired from service.

New South Wales police have defected what could be one of the most worn-out Toyota LandCruiser 70 Series utes on Australia roads, after its missing driver’s side door hinted at deeper issues.

On Tuesday November 26, Dubbo Highway Patrol officers stopped a LandCruiser on the Newell Highway in Brocklehurst, having spotted the ute sans its driver’s side door and with excessive rust.

Upon closer inspection, the ute was found to be displaying false number plates, while its 22-year-old driver was revealed to be unlicensed.

After searching inside the vehicle, police found “a number of cannabis seeds”, though the driver allegedly told officers they were poppy seeds.

The LandCruiser was subsequently issued with a major defect, and its driver was issued with a number of penalty notices relating to the vehicle’s registration and other issues found.

He was also issued a court attendance notice for driving with a cancelled licence and possession of a prohibited drug.
