Peugeot Australia is recalling diesel-powered versions of its 3008 and 5008 crossovers as their diesel particulate filters could crack.
Peugeot Australia has recalled 526 examples of its 2018-2022 3008 GT and 5008 GT models over an issue with their diesel particulate filter (DPF).
UPDATE, 15/11/23 – Peugeot Australia has provided an update on the vehicles affected and included further details regarding the recall notice. We have updated the article accordingly.
The company released two separate recall notices which we have linked below.
“The Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) may crack due to overheating. If this occurs the DPF may not operate as intended resulting in an increase of tailpipe emissions,” the company says in its recall notice.
“There is no safety hazard and if this occurs, the defect will not affect the performance of the vehicle.
“If the defect occurs the vehicles would not be compliant with the Australian Designer Rule ADR79 – Emission Control for Light Vehicles.”
A spokesperson from Peugeot Australia has confirmed that 135 examples of its MY19 3008, 59 units of its MY19 5008, 205 MY19-22 Peugeot 3008 and 127 MY19-22 Peugeot 5008 vehicles have been recalled across the two notices.
“In both compliance recalls, on the identified vehicles there is the potential for cracks to appear in the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) following an unexpected overheating of the DPF, resulting in a possible risk of increased tailpipe emissions,” a spokesperson from Peugeot Australia told CarExpert.
“For vehicles identified in Campaign KWL, the rectification consists of replacement of the particulate filter. For vehicles identified in Campaign KWM, the actions to address this concern consist of checking the condition of the particle filter and, if necessary, replacing the particle filter.”
If you own an affected vehicle, you will need to contact your preferred Peugeot dealer to schedule an appointment to have it inspected and rectified, free of charge.
If you have further questions you can call Peugeot Australia’s Customer Relations Team on 1800 307 607.
