143 examples of the Mercedes-Benz EQS and AMG EQS are being recalled as the electric drivetrain may deactivate.
Mercedes-Benz Australia is recalling 143 examples of its EQS electric liftback because the electric drivetrain may deactivate.
This recall affects EQS 450 4Matic, EQS 500 4Matic, as well as AMG EQS 53 4Matic+ models produced between 2021 and 2022.
“Due to a software issue, the electric vehicle (EV) Drivetrain system may deactivate resulting in a loss of motive power,” the company says in its recall notice.
“A loss of motive power whilst driving increases the risk of an accident, causing serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.”
If you own an affected vehicle, you’ll be contacted by Mercedes-Benz and asked to make an appointment at your nearest authorised Mercedes-Benz dealer to have the work carried out as soon as possible.
If you have further questions, you can contact the Mercedes-Benz Customer Assistance Centre on 1300 762 718.
