Amaury Guichon has created a red F1 race car completely out of chocolate just in time for the start of the 2024 Formula One season.
Known for his wild chocolate creations and his role on Masterchef: Dessert Masters, Mr Guichon took to social media to show off the Formula One race car which took seven days and 58kg of dark chocolate to complete.
In the video, Mr Guichon shows how he made the car from scratch, moulding it with melted dark chocolate.
He uses melted chocolate to connect the large pieces together, forming the race car’s shape. By sanding down the edges of the pieces he can create curves and form detailed parts like the air intakes and nose.
To create the front spoiler, Mr Guichon first outlines the design on tracing paper before setting the chocolate into the mould. After adding details like the seat belt and driver handles he then begins painting the race car with red, black and white paint – likely food-grade colouring.
After adding the final details like the steering wheel and silver accents, Mr Guichon then begins on the tyres.
The tyres are created using a very large circular pot and a circular plastic mould. After combining the two pieces, he sands them down and adds a layer of chocolate to make sure the tyres are flat and smooth.
Black paint is applied to the tyres before he creates their aero covers, finished in grey and silver paint, which is followed by a yellow stripe being applied to the tyres.
While it’s not a life-size version of a Formula One car, it still looks fairly realistic.
Pre-season testing for the 2024 Formula One World Championship is due to run from February 21 to 23, taking place at the Sakhir Circuit in Bahrain.
The 2024 Australian Grand Prix will take place between March 22 to 24, with local heroes Oscar Piastri and Daniel Ricciardo set to compete in front of their home crowd for the first time.
While Ricciardo was sidelined for the 2023 edition – having lost his race seat at McLaren at the end of 2022 – Piastri scored his first Formula One points at his home race, finishing eighth.
