A learner driver in New South Wales has been hit with a licence suspension and a string of fines after doing more than double the speed limit and ploughing into an elderly woman’s garage.
The 19-year-old male was allegedly detected travelling at 107km/h in a 50km/h zone by Auburn Highway Patrol at 5:10pm on Monday evening – right in the thick of peak hour.
Before police officers had a chance to pursue the speeding SUV, the L-plater crashed through a fence and into the garage of an 86-year-old woman. Neither party was injured in the crash.
