Kia has revealed a bit more on its anticipated followup to the EV6 electric car, the larger EV9 SUV, ahead of an in-person premiere at AutoMobility LA next week.
The company says the EV9 “hints at an exciting ideation for its next all-electric SUV”. Here it manifests as an ultra-modern looker with upright and faintly rugged cues.
Renderings show an interior with ultra-wide display and unusual steering wheel design. It’s very large, open and practical in appearance, which is enabled by its low and flat EV-only platform.
Kia calls the cabin “an adaptive and smart lounge space”. Cool.
It’s expected that the EV9 will share the E-GMP electric platform and features with the upcoming Hyundai Ioniq 7, also known as SEVEN in concept form – also set for an LA debut next week.
The Ioniq 7 is set for launch in 2024, whereas Kia hasn’t set an official date yet for when the EV9 will be available for purchase. Doubtless the timing will be similar.
