The Kia EV6 and Niro EV electric SUVs have been recalled as a defective driveshaft could lead to a sudden loss of power.
Kia Australia has recalled 237 examples of the EV6andNiro EV electric SUVs due to a fault which could cause a loss of power.
“Due to a manufacturing defect, the driveshaft may break under load. If this occurs, it may lead to a sudden loss of motive power,” Kia said in its recall notice.
“A sudden loss of motive power whilst driving could increase the risk of an accident, causing injury or death to the vehicle occupants and/or other road users.”
If you own an affected EV6 or Niro EV, you’ll need to contact your preferred Kia dealer to schedule an appointment to have the driveshaft replaced, free of charge.
Alternatively, you can contact Kia’s Customer Service hotline for more information by calling 13 15 42.
