The GWM Tank 500 will be the Chinese brand’s first vehicle with connected services in Australia, arriving alongside expanded roadside assistance and capped-price servicing coverage for certain models.
Due in the second quarter of 2024 (April to June), the GWM Tank 500 will be compatible with a new smartphone application which can remotely control a number of the Toyota LandCruiser Prado-sized SUV’s functions.
This includes remote control of the locks, climate control, heated and ventilated seat controls, lights and horn.
Owners will also be able to open or close the windows and sunroof, check the fuel level, and use an ‘E-Fence’ to track its movement.
It’s not yet known whether GWM’s connected services app will be rolled out for more models in the brand’s lineup, or if it’s available to be retroactively added to existing vehicles.
GWM also announced it will expand its roadside assistance and capped-price servicing coverage for the Tank 500 to seven years, up from its existing five-year offering.
The extended coverage will also be retroactively applied to the smaller GWM Tank 300’s petrol and hybrid variants, but no more of the brand’s models at this time.
GWM has not yet confirmed capped-price servicing prices for the Tank 500, due to launch in Australia within the next three months from $66,490 drive-away.
