Ford of Europe has revealed an even hotter version of the Fiesta ST hot hatch, complete with coil-over suspension and an eye-popping blue exterior finish – but it’s not coming to Australia.

The aptly-named Ford Fiesta ST Edition is limited to 500 units across Europe, with 300 examples already allocated to the UK. Only a three-door body is offered with this model.

“We have no plans to offer this model in Australia,” a Ford Australia spokesperson said.

Distinguishing the Fiesta ST Edition from the ‘standard’ model are special Azura Blue exterior paint – very similar to the Focus RS’s Nitrous Blue – with high-gloss black accents for the rear diffuser, roof spoiler and ST badges.

Inside, there’s more carbon-fibre details, bespoke blue top-stitching, and a new Ford Performance steering wheel with a dedicated Sport Drive mode button. There’s also special ST puddle lamps when you open the doors.

Carryover kit for the cabin includes Ford’s Sync 3 infotainment system incorporating an 8.0-inch touchscreen and the FordPass Connect embedded modem – offering remote functions like door lock/unlock, vehicle locator and vehicle status.

Under the skin the Fiesta ST Edition features Ford Performance adjustable coilover suspension which “enables customisation of cornering, road-holding and ride-height characteristics for true performance driving enthusiasts”. New flow-formed alloy wheels also aid dynamics by reducing unsprung weight.

The two-way adjustable suspension system features Ford Performance Blue-coloured springs, twin tube stainless steel dampers, lowering the standard ride height by 15mm at the front and 10mm at the rear. A total of 12 ‘bump’ settings and 16 ‘rebound’ settings are available.

Ford Performance’s special 18-inch flow-formed alloy wheels save almost 2.0kg per wheel compared to the standard Fiesta ST rims, finished in a 10-spoke design.

The Blue Oval says “the lighter wheels follow the profile of rougher road surfaces more effectively and reduce the demand on the Fiesta ST Edition’s dampers and springs, improving tyre contact with the road for improved grip and responses”.

Behind the new wheels is a high-performance braking system with 278mm ventilated front discs and 253mm solid rear discs.

Under the bonnet, the Fiesta ST Edition is powered by a the same 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbocharged EcoBoost petrol engine, developing 147kW (200PS) at 6000rpm and 290Nm from 1600rpm to 4000rom.

Ford maintains a 0-100 claim of 6.5 seconds and a top speed of 143mph (230km/h).

Pricing for the Fiesta ST Edition starts at £27,075 ($48,925) in the UK. Meanwhile, the run-of-the-mill Ford Performance Fiesta ST is currently on sale from $31,990 plus on-road costs in Australia.
