The updated version of the iconic Toyota LandCruiser 70 Series has now gone on sale in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in its previously unrevealed 71 Series short-wheelbase three-door wagon body style.
This refreshed version of the LandCruiser 71 Series will be sold alongside the larger LandCruiser 76 Series five-door wagon in the UAE. It’s only available in a single VXR specification at launch and costs AED169,900 (~A$69,500).
It’s highly unlikely this updated version of the Toyota LandCruiser 71 Series will offered in Australia. The three-door wagon body style axed from the local line-up in the 1990s.
The local LandCruiser 70 range currently consists of the 76 Series five-door wagon, 78 Series Troop Carrier, as well as the 79 Series single- and dual-cab utes.
This updated version of the UAE-specification LandCruiser 71 is powered by a 4.0-litre naturally aspirated V6 petrol engine producing 170kW of power and 360Nm of torque. This engine isn’t available in any Australian-specification LandCruiser 70 Series models.
This engine is mated exclusively to a six-speed automatic transmission with drive sent through a four-wheel drive system. There’s also a differential lock.
It measures in at 4235mm long, 1870mm wide, and 1910mm tall with a 2310mm wheelbase; 640mm shorter and 30mm shorter than the five-door wagon.
Despite the smaller body, the LandCruiser 71 Series still has the capacity for up to five passengers. This is the same as the five-door wagon.
The updated UAE-spec LandCruiser 71 Series comes with LED headlights with auto high-beam, 16-inch alloy wheels, 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wood trim steering wheel, as well as nubuck and synthetic leather upholstery.
On the safety front, it comes with dual airbags, autonomous emergency braking, lane departure alert, as well as a tyre pressure warning. You need to step up to the five-door wagon if you want a reversing camera.
There are four exterior paint colour options available – Grey Metallic, White, Silver Metallic, as well as Beige.
