The BMW iX3 is an all-electric version of the internal-combustion X3.
Power comes from a single electric motor on the rear axle producing 210kW of power and 400Nm of torque.
BMW claims the iX3 will be able to do the 0-100kmh sprint in 6.8 seconds, aligning it with its BMW X3 xDrive30i sibling.
There is a claimed range of 460km from the iX3s 80kWh battery pack on the WLTP test cycle. Only 74kWh of this battery is utilised.
The iX3 can charge at a maximum speed of 150kW when plugged into a DC fast-charging station.
This charging speed will allow owners to add 100km of range after just 10 minutes.
The iX3 will be part of BMW Australia’s next generation of electric vehicles that also includes the iX dedicated electric SUV and the i4 gran coupe.
Key rivals for the BMW iX3 are the Mercedes-Benz EQC, Tesla Model X, and Jaguar I-Pace, along with the Volvo XC40 Recharge set to arrive in the second half of 2021.
