The core variants of the upgraded Tesla Model Y have been priced for Australia, before the new-look and better-equipped mid-sized electric SUV range arrives here in late May or early June.
Tesla revealed the ‘Juniper’ update for the Model Y in January, however, it only announced local pricing and opened orders for Launch Series variants, which include some additional equipment.
Some examples of the 2025 Tesla Model Y All-Wheel Drive (AWD) Long Range Launch Edition are still available, but Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) version is already sold out.
Now priced from $58,900 before on-road costs, the entry-level MY25 Model Y RWD is $3000 dearer than before its facelift, however, there’s more equipment and a longer driving range to justify the increase.
Conversely, the Model Y Long Range AWD is now $1000 cheaper, starting from $68,900 before on-road costs.

That’s the cheapest the Long Range has ever been, having launched in Australia with an $81,900 price tag in April 2023.
Prices of the Model Y RWD peaked at $72,300 in June 2022, just one week after its launch.
As reported earlier this week, Tesla is offering discounts on the pre-facelift Model Y Long Range in a bid to clear stock, which not only includes cheaper pricing but also a free home charger unit and Supercharger credits.
A sleeker Cybertruck-inspired front end and full-width light bars at the front and rear are the biggest changes to the Model Y’s design with the Juniper update, and the base RWD also gets a new ‘Crossflow’ 19-inch wheel design.
The Model Y has received an increase in driving range, up 11km for the RWD and 18km for the Long Range.
Tesla claims overhauled suspension has resulted in a 22 per cent reduction in road noise and 20 per cent reductions in impact and wind noise.
Inside, there are new heated and ventilated front seats and a 15.4-inch infotainment touchscreen, while rear occupants get heated and power-reclining seats, and an 8.0-inch touchscreen.
Tesla is yet to reveal a Performance variant of the Model Y.
