Mini has revealed the drop-top version of its latest petrol-powered Cooper, and it’s locked in for an Australian launch.
The 2025 Mini Cooper Convertible will arrive here during the first quarter of 2025, joining the fifth-generation Cooper hatchback that landed here this year.
The Cooper C, Cooper S and Cooper JCW convertibles will be offered in Australia, with pricing to be announced closer to launch.
Drop-top variants of the Cooper are equipped with an automatic folding fabric roof that fully retracts in 18 seconds.

The roof mechanism can be operated at speeds of up to 30km/h.
In addition to its open and closed positions, the soft top can also function like a sunroof, partially opening to limit exposure to the elements.
The woven fabric soft top is available in black with the option of a grey Union Jack, a not-so-subtle nod to the brand’s British origins.
Surprisingly, Mini claims the convertible Cooper offers superior boot space to the hatch – 215L vs 210L – although cargo capacity drops to 160L when the car is driven top down.
As with the standard Cooper, three trim levels will be offered with the rag-top: Classic, Favoured and JCW.
Under the bonnet of the convertible Cooper C is a turbocharged 1.5-litre three-cylinder engine producing 120kW of power and 250Nm of torque.
Despite packing more power and torque than its hatch sibling, the convertible is slower with a claimed 0-100km/h time of 8.2 seconds.
The Cooper S upgrades to a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with 150kW and 300Nm, identical outputs to the S hatch.
Mini has not yet detailed powertrain specifications for the flagship JCW. All Cooper models are fitted with an automatic transmission.
Known for producing cars with compact dimensions, the new Cooper Convertible measures 3.88m in length, 1.74m wide and 1.43m tall.
Wheels range from 16 to 18 inches in diameter, while the convertible brings the option of an exclusive Copper Grey paint finish.
As with fixed-roof versions of the Cooper, the interior of the Convertible features an OLED infotainment touchscreen running on Mini Operating System 9, with a head-up display taking the place of a conventional instrument display.
Below the centre screen there are toggle switches for gear selection and ‘Experience Modes’, an on/off switch, a volume knob, and buttons for functions like the demister.
Classic variants can be optioned with either grey or black seats, while the Favoured trim gains JCW sport seats in either beige or Nightshade Blue synthetic leather.
In the JCW Trim, the sport seats are upholstered in black leather with red stitching.
