Mahindra has revealed a new limited-edition version of its six-seat Scorpio off-roader that brings a range of blacked-out interior and exterior elements.
The Mahindra Scorpio Black Edition is based on the entry-level Z8 variant is priced at an unchanged $41,990 drive-away.
In addition to the Z8’s standard features, the Scorpio Black Edition picks up black 18-inch alloy wheels, black side steps, black roof racks, and black 3D floor mats.

Mahindra claims the added equipment equals a saving of $3000 compared to the regular Scorpio Z8.
It’s worth noting these limited-edition Scorpio Black Edition models have a 2023-plated VIN, meaning they were all produced in 2023.
Under the bonnet the Scorpio Black Edition is powered by an unchanged 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine producing 129kW of power and 400Nm of torque.
It’s mated exclusively to a six-speed automatic transmission with drive sent through a shift-on-the-fly four-wheel drive system with low-range.
Standard equipment includes projector LED headlights, sunroof, 4.2-inch monochrome digital instrument cluster, 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, dual-zone climate control with second-row air conditioning, Coffee Black upholstery, and six seats, among others.
As previously reported, Mahindra plans to add more safety equipment to the Scorpio following its zero-star ANCAP safety rating, and it intends to have the updated vehicle retested.
In December last year it was claimed the updated vehicle would arrive in the second half of 2024. We’ve reached out to Mahindra to see if this is still the case.
“We at Mahindra are committed to our promise of safety and are working towards meeting unique safety regulations and these requirements for Australia as part of our product mid-cycle update,” said a company spokesperson in December 2023.
The Scorpio, introduced in 2023, is the first body-on-frame SUV offered by the Indian brand in Australia.
Called the Scorpio-N in India, it’s sold there alongside the older Scorpio Classic, which was never offered here.
It’s similarly sized to the XUV700, but where that model is a front-wheel drive unibody crossover, the Scorpio is a four-wheel drive body-on-frame SUV.
