Rest in peace, Cerato. The new 2025 Kia K4 is arriving in Australian showrooms later this month, replacing the popular Cerato nameplate offered Down Under for 20 years.
Compared to the Cerato, the K4 is longer, lower and wider, and is underpinned by a newer and more tech-laden platform.
It’s launching as a sedan to start with, though a K4 Hatch is due later this year.
Prices start from $30,590 before on-road costs, representing a $3500 increase over the base pricing of the outgoing Cerato. Higher up in the range, the difference is closer to $5000-$6000 – though this is offset by more equipment.

Available features across most of the four-tier model lineup include LED headlights, Kia Connect, dual 12.3-inch displays for the instrument cluster and infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as an extensive suite of driver assists.
A choice of two petrol engines are available from launch, with S, Sport and Sport+ variants receiving a largely carryover 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, while the GT-Line flagship gets a 1.6-litre turbocharged unit teamed with a new eight-speed torque-converter automatic.
Unlike the related Hyundai i30 Sedan (known as the Avante and Elantra elsewhere), the K4 isn’t available with a hybrid option, at least from launch. Kia is expected to reveal a K4 Hybrid (HEV) in due course.
Kia Australia has also subjected the K4 to an “extensive ride and handling development program”, which involved thousands of kilometres of local testing and fine tuning for the suspension, damping and steering systems.
The 2025 Kia K4 Sedan range opens with the base S from $30,590 before on-road costs, topping out with the GT-Line at $42,990 plus on-roads. That’s about $3500 more than the Cerato at the base level, and $6000 at the top end.
