2024 Toyota C-HR price and specs: Base price up by over $11,000

Toyota Australia has detailed the pricing of its next-generation hybrid-only C-HR line-up ahead of its arrival at local showrooms during the first quarter of 2024.

The range now opens with the C-HR GXL which starts at $42,990 before on-roads, which is $11,275 more expensive than the pre-update non-hybrid GXL variant, and $4525 more expensive than the pre-update Koba Hybrid.

The 2024 Toyota C-HR range now extends all the way to $54,990 before on-roads for the GR Sport.

One reason why pricing for the C-HR has climbed so much when compared to the pre-update model is this new-generation model is now sourced from Turkey – which means it attracts import tariffs that don’t affect the outgoing, Japanese-made model.

As previously detailed, GXL and Koba models feature a 1.8-litre unit, while the GR Sport has a more powerful 2.0-litre setup with all-wheel drive.

The 1.8-litre hybrid drivetrain in the GXL and Koba, shared with the Corolla, produces 103kW, up 15 per cent on the 90kW you get in the outgoing model.

Meanwhile, the GR Sport gets 145kW of power and all-wheel drive thanks to an extra electric motor on the rear axle.

Toyota Australia claims it will announce full specification details for the C-HR range when it arrives in the first quarter of 2024.

Drivetrains

The Toyota C-HR GXL and Koba are powered by 1.8-litre four-cylinder petrol engine (72kW/142Nm) with a hybrid transaxle featuring an electric motor (70kW) producing system output of 103kW of power.

The flagship C-HR GR Sport is powered by a larger 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine (112kW/118Nm) with a pair of electric motors on the front (83kW) and rear (30kW) axles. Total system output is 145kW.

Both powertrains feature a lithium-ion battery pack, as well as a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

Efficiency

At this stage Toyota Australia hasn’t detailed fuel economy figures for the 2024 C-HR.

Dimensions

The 2024 Toyota CH-R measures in at 4360mm long, 1830mm wide, and between 1558mm and 1564mm tall, with a 2640mm wheelbase.

Toyota Australia hasn’t detailed the boot capacities for the 2024 C-HR line-up at this stage.

Servicing and Warranty

It’s expected the 2024 Toyota C-HR will be covered by the company’s five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty.

The 2024 Toyota C-HR is yet to be crash-tested by ANCAP or Euro NCAP, so at this stage it’s unrated.

Colours

Toyota hasn’t detailed the full range of exterior paint colours for the 2024 C-HR at this stage, though it has said there will be six paint colours, as well as six two-tone options for the Koba and GR Sport.

Two-tone premium paint costs an additional $775, whereas two-tone plus premium paint costs an additional $1550.
