The 2024 Mercedes-AMG G 63 Grand Edition will become the German brand’s most expensive non-Maybach SUV when it arrives in Australia this month in limited numbers.
Revealed globally in mid-2023, just 1000 examples of the Grand Edition will be built worldwide, and an undisclosed number are coming to Australia.
The special edition is due here before the end of March.
Priced from $413,661 before on-road costs, the Grand Edition is $50,000 dearer than the Mercedes-AMG G 63 it’s based on, with its upgrades consisting of exterior and interior design tweaks.
All Grand Editions are finished in night black magno (matte black) paint, which is contrasted with Kalahari gold magno-finished decals, badges, and other exterior highlights such as front and rear bumper inlays, underbody protection, and the spare wheel cover.
A set of 22-inch forged wheels in tech gold are held onto the hubs by matte black central lock nuts, featuring a gold Mercedes-Benz star.
Inside, the G 63 Grand Edition features illuminated AMG black door sill trims, black Nappa leather grab handles and seats with gold contrast stitching, a gold AMG plaque and gold edging.
There are additional carbon-trimmed interior elements, complementing the Dinamica microfibre-upholstered steering wheel which has its own G63 plaque.
Owners are also given a complimentary AMG indoor car cover, in case the G 63 Grand Edition is being purchased for its collectible value rather than day-to-day use.
It’s understood there are no changes to the G 63’s 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, which produces 430kW of power and 850Nm, sending drive to all four wheels through a nine-speed automatic transmission.
