The JAC T9 won’t be a bargain basement challenger when it lands in Australian showrooms.
The new Chinese ute will take on top-end versions of the GWM Ute Cannon and entry-level variants of the new Mitsubishi Triton, with a starting price of $42,662 before on-roads for T9 Oasis.
The range-topping T9 Haven will set you back $45,630 before on-roads.
Along with a body that’s very similarly sized to a Ford Ranger, the T9 wades into the crowded ute market with a 3500kg braked towing capacity and a 1000kg payload.

Powertrain
Power in the JAC T9 comes from a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine making 125kW of power and 410Nm of torque.
It’s mated with an eight-speed automatic from ZF, and features a four-wheel drive transfer case allowing owners to run in 2H, 4H, and 4L modes. It also features an electronic rear differential lock.
Efficiency
The JAC T9 uses a claimed 7.6 litres per 100km on the combined cycle. It has a 76-litre fuel tank.
Dimensions
The JAC T9 measures 5330mm long, 1965mm wide, and 1920mm tall on a 3110mm wheelbase.
Ground clearance is 210mm, maximum wading depth is 800mm, approach angle is 27 degrees, and departure angle is 23 degrees.
The tub measures 1520mm long, 1590mm wide, and 470mm tall. Payload is 1000kg, braked towing capacity is 3500kg, and unbraked towing capacity is 750kg.
Gross vehicle mass is 3055kg, and Gross combination mass is 5930kg.
Servicing and Warranty
JAC will offer a seven-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty from launch for both private and commercial operators.
Service pricing and intervals haven’t been confirmed.

The JAC T9 hasn’t been crash tested by ANCAP.
