There’s a tougher new Ford Ranger coming to Australia.
The limited-edition Ford Ranger Tremor will hit showrooms late in the third quarter of 2024, priced from $69,690 before on-road costs.
Under the skin, the Tremor borrows some of its off-road hardware from the Ranger Wildtrak X – but is based on the cheaper Ranger Sport.
Power comes from a 2.0-litre Bi-Turbo diesel engine which produces 150kW of power and 500Nm of torque, mated with a 10-speed automatic transmission and full-time four-wheel drive that can be engaged on sealed surfaces.
The engine is Euro 6 emissions compliant, and requires AdBlue.
Remote reservoir Bilstein shock absorbers and new springs raise the ride by 26mm, and the car has a 30mm wider track than stock.
Gone are the standard Sport wheels, replaced with a set of 17-inch black wheels wrapped in General Grabber AT3 All-Terrain Tyres. Ford has fitted a heavy-duty power steering system with extra underbody shielding, along with a range of extra driver assists for off-roading.
They include Trail Turn Assist, which brakes the inside wheels of the car when making tight turns on loose surfaces to improve the car’s turning circle, and an off-road cruise control system that allows the car to maintain a set speed over rough terrain without driver input.
Inside, the Tremor is designed to be simple for owners to hose down after getting it muddy deep in the wilderness. A set of rubber floor mats with Tremor branding are standard, and there’s a bank of auxiliary overhead switches to save the hassle of jerry rigging new switch banks to support accessories like spotlights.
Externally, you’ll be able to tell the Tremor apart from its stablemates by looking at its grille and integrated LED light bar, front bash plate, cast aluminium side steps, and the “long-legged” sports bar.
Beyond that, the spec sheet of the Ranger Tremor matches that of the Ranger Sport.
Atop the broader range, the Sport offers:
- Rotary drive mode selector
- Wireless phone charging
- Off-road screen
- Ebony leather upholstery with ‘SPORT’ embossing
- Eight-way electrically adjustable driver seat
- Six-way manual front passenger seat
