Toyota Australia will give its strong-selling RAV4 SUV a technology and safety update in the second half of 2022.
The 2023 RAV4 will feature “the latest generation multimedia system across the range that incorporates USB-C connection and the addition of Toyota Connected Services”.
Connected Services rolled out across most of the Toyota range earlier in 2022.
The RAV4 will also receive an updated range of active safety features, including emergency steering assist (which can help panicked drivers steer around an obstacle to avoid a crash) and intersection pre-collision safety (which prepares the car if it detects an imminent crash pulling out of an intersection).
Toyota hasn’t confirmed a full list of upgrades for the RAV4, and an updated model hasn’t yet been released in international markets – but Toyota has previously confirmed it’s accelerating the rollout of new interior technology across its global range.
The European-market Corolla has already been treated to a new 8.0-inch infotainment system with faster processing and smarter native voice control, while the US-market Tundra and Sequoia have a version of the system that runs on screens up to 14-inches in size.
The system rolling out worldwide features wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The infotainment system in the current RAV4 is an 8.0-inch unit shared with the Yaris, Corolla, and HiLux.
A report from Japanese outlet Creative Trend also says the 2023 RAV4 will gain a new 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster at the top end of the range, while lower-end models will gain the 7.0-inch display from the current range-topper.
Despite supply constraints, the RAV4 is the best-selling mid-sized SUV in Australia with 10,489 sales to date in 2022.
