2023 Subaru WRX price and specs

After being redesigned last year, the Subaru WRX enters 2023 unchanged apart from a price hike.

Prices are up by $1000 across the board, with Subaru citing increased production costs.

Pricing for the sedan range starts at $45,990 before on-road costs for the base model WRX, with the top-spec WRX tS Sport topping out at $57,990 before on-road costs.

The base Sportswagon opens at $50,990 before on-road costs, with the top-spec tS priced at $58,990 before on-road costs.

A spokesperson for Subaru Australia has confirmed stock of its WRX range is in strong supply and, depending on the specifications, customers may only need to wait a month before taking delivery.

Customers are encouraged to check with their local dealer on stock availability.

The WRX sedan continues to come with either manual or automatic transmission options in base and RS guise, with the flagship tS being auto-only.

All Sportswagons, in contrast, are auto-only.

Drivetrains

The 2023 Subaru WRX is powered by a 2.4-litre turbocharged flat-four engine producing 202kW of power at 5600rpm and 350Nm of torque between 2000 and 5200rpm.

It’s mated to either a six-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable transmission (CVT), however the latter is the only choice for Sportswagon models.

Power is sent to all four wheels through an all-wheel drive system with active torque vectoring.

Efficiency

The 2023 Subaru WRX uses 8.5L/100km on the combined cycle when equipped with the CVT and 9.9L/100km with the manual.

The WRX requires 95 RON premium unleaded fuel and has a 63L fuel tank.

Dimensions

The 2023 Subaru WRX sedan measures 4670mm long, 1825mm wide and 1465mm tall on a 2675mm wheelbase.

It has 414L of boot space in base trim and 411L in the RS and tS.

The 2023 Subaru WRX Sportswagon measures 4755mm long, 1795mm wide and 1500mm tall on a 2670mm wheelbase.

There’s 492L of cargo space, expanding to 909L with the rear seats folded. Total volume with the second row folded is 1430L if measured to the roof.

Under the boot floor of all models is a 17-inch space-saver wheel.

Sedans have 135mm of ground clearance, Sportswagons have 140mm.

Servicing and Warranty

All WRX models are backed by a five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty.

Subaru offers five years of capped-price servicing, with intervals of 12 months or 15,000km.

Pricing has increased incrementally since last year with the first five services capped at $378.33 (+$23.10), $517.96 (+$36.31), $453.19 (+$23.80), $792.10 (+$55.88) and $394.78 (+$33.53) on all automatic models.

Manual models have the same service prices except for the 48-month/60,000km service, which is priced at $859.19 (+$55.59).

Safety

The Subaru WRX has yet to be tested by ANCAP.

Manual models miss out on a glut of safety equipment restricted to CVT-equipped variants.
