Say hello to the most extreme 911 GT3 RS ever.
An official reveal for the 2023 Porsche 911 GT3 RS is imminent, but the track special has been leaked on social media.
The images show what previous spy photos have already told us. The GT3 RS wears a wild aerodynamics package that takes things a few steps further than we’ve seen before.
The rear wing is an oversized swan-neck unit with a two-tier design and massive end plates, while the rear bumper features massive cutouts behind the rear wheels to improve air flow. The diffuser looks as if it’s been lifted from a 911 Cup car, too.
Keen-eyed observers will notice the fresh strakes on the roof channelling air to that massive rear wing, while the side skirts and front guards are every bit as sculptural as the rear bodywork.
Up front, the subtle nostrils from the regular GT3 have become bigger. The louvred front arches carry over from before.
The red wheels on this particular car appear to be magnesium units, and are potentially part of the Weissach Pack.
Inside, the steering wheel features four dials to control individual parts of the car’s performance. It’s not clear what each does, given the low-resolution nature of the leaks, but more will be revealed with the car this week.
Power in the new RS will come from a 4.0-litre flat-six engine making around 378kW (500PS), according to Porsche GT boss Andreas Preuninger.
The GT3 uses a 4.0-litre naturally-aspirated flat-six engine with 375kW of power, good for a 3.4-second sprint to 100km/h with the seven-speed PDK transmission fitted.
Mr Preuninger says the engine is “even more optimised for track use than its predecessors”, with a “spontaneously responsive, high-revving” character. The 4.0-litre engine in the GT3 is redlined at 9000rpm, so the RS shapes as an absolute screamer.
Given the last GT3 RS was available only with a seven-speed PDK, we expect the new car to follow suit even though a six-speed manual is available in the GT3.
