Chevrolet Corvette buyers keen to customise their mid-engine muscle cars in Australia will have more choice come 2023.
Buyers will be able to go through and properly specify their cars for 2023, from the exterior finish to the colour of the seatbelts.
The first batch of mid-engined Corvettes for Australia were pre-configured, forcing buyers to find the car that most closely matched their preferences from an existing pool of stock.
“This overwhelming international demand for the C8, along with added complexity of being the first-ever factory-manufactured right-hand-drive model, meant we needed to pre-set our launch allocation of customer vehicles,” said General Motors Specialty Vehicles (GMSV) director Joanne Stogiannis.
“Providing customers an improved level of personalisation was a key focus for us with this allocation as well as news that we are providing smaller, more frequent, dealer allocations at this time.”
“This will mean there is greater visibility on production timing along with the opportunity for customers to personalise elements of their vehicle.”
Buyers will be able to choose from a full range of paint and decal colours, black or silver exhaust tips, and the colour of the brake calipers.
The interior can now be finished in all red or black, with the option of contrast seatbelts.
The 2023 C8 Corvette will also receive three different wheel designs.
Shipping will kick off in the fourth quarter of 2022.
The car sold by GMSV is built in Bowling Green, Kentucky by Chevrolet in right-hand drive, rather than being locally remanufactured for Australia like the Silverado ute.
Power comes from a 6.2-litre naturally-aspirated V8 engine tucked behind the cabin with 364kW of power and 630Nm of torque. It’s sent to the rear wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Standard equipment in Australia will include the Z51 Performance Pack and a nose-lift across the range, along with a head-up display and a 14-speaker Bose sound system.
GMSV has sold 68 Corvettes to date in 2022. Pricing started at $144,990 before on-roads for the 2LT Coupe, and extended to $189,990 before on-roads for the Carbon Edition.
