Looking at a Subaru Forester? You’re out of luck, at least for now, with the 2022 model-year allocation sold out.
The update was first spotted on the brand’s local consumer site, then confirmed by Subaru Australia who indicated customers interested in securing an MY23 example should contact their preferred dealer.
“MY22 Forester has now sold out. Interested customers are encouraged to speak to their local Subaru retailer about registering their interest for the upcoming MY23 Forester,” said a spokesperson for Subaru Australia.
“Any changes to specifications and pricing for MY23 Forester will be announced closer to launch.”
Exactly when the 2023 model-year Forester range is due to launch remains a mystery, with Subaru Australia remaining tight-lipped about when we can expect the next round of vehicles to arrive.
Currently, the now sold-out Forester range consists of seven variants, including two hybrid models.
The entry-level Forester 2.5i AWD started at $35,990 plus on-road costs in MY22 guise, topping out at $47,190 before on-roads for the flagship Forester Hybrid S AWD.
In between the base and top-spec trims are L versions of 2.5i and Hybrid models, as well as Premium, Sport and S versions of the 2.5i petrol.
Looking abroad, there doesn’t appear to have been any recent major changes to the Forester in other markets, which isn’t a surprise given the facelift was only revealed 10 months ago and then subsequently launched in Australia a few months later.
One potential change could be an expansion of the Forester Hybrid line-up, currently limited to two variants, to better compete with the likes of the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid and now the Haval H6 Hybrid.
The MY22 Forester Hybrid L AWD was priced from $41,390 plus on-road costs, so a sub-$40,000 electrified model would no doubt broaden Subaru’s appeal in the hybrid space.
Subaru Australia has delivered 4019 Forester units to April 30, 2022, down 19.7 per cent on the same period in 2021. Like the bulk of the industry, Subaru has been battling supply constraints in recent months.
