The Renault Megane E-Tech Electric has been spied alongside a Volkswagen ID.4 during last-minute testing before its Munich motor show debut.
Production of the all-electric crossover is set to begin in 2022.
Although it still wears the same camouflage, this prototype differs from previously spied models in its larger rims – possibly 21-inch units – with a different design.
Just behind the Megane E-Tech Electric in the spy shots is a Volkswagen ID.4 that appears to be Renault’s benchmark for the model.
According to Renault, the electric Megane will be available with a 60kWh battery with a single electric motor producing 160kW of power.
Renault claims a range of 450km under the WLTP standard.
The Megane E-Tech Electric will share the same CMF-EV platform and electric powertrain with the Nissan Ariya.
Nissan Ariya
Although there’s only one powertrain confirmed for the electric Megane at this stage, other drivetrains could appear in the Renault.
Nissan will offer the Ariya in rear-wheel drive with either 160kW/300Nm or 175kW/300Nm motors, as well as all-wheel drive with 250kW/560Nm and 290kW/560Nm powertrains.
Renault eVision concept
The electric Megane doesn’t stray too far from the eVision concept debuted by Renault late last year, with the same proportions and many of its styling features carried over.
That includes the new Renault logo, plus distinctive Z-shaped daytime running lights.
Renault has previously teased the E-Tech Electric’s interior, which boasts a minimalist dashboard in the vein of the ID.4.
