2022 Renault Arkana price and specs

Renault’s sporty-looking new Arkana SUV has been priced for Australia.

UPDATE, 02/06/2022 – Renault Australia has announced it’ll be doing a range-wide “price realignment” that will go into effect from July 1, 2022. This is due to rising shipping costs and an increase in the price of raw materials.

Before on-road pricing for the 2022 Renault Arkana range is up $1210. The range starts from $35,800 before on-road costs as of July 1, 2022.

UPDATE, 02/03/2022 – The top-of-the-range Renault Arkana R.S. Line has officially joined the local line-up.

Prices were also up between $600 and $1100, depending on trim, as of March 1, 2022.

Confirmed for Australia in 2020, the Arkana is the first Renault to be launched since Ateco (the same company that imports Ram utes and Maserati sports cars) took the reins as distributor.

The base Zen and mid-range Intens have touched down in Australia, with the flagship R.S. Line to follow early in 2022.

Renault is pitching it as a cut-price alternative to the Audi Q3 Sportback or BMW X2, with a sloping tailgate setting it apart from its more compact Captur cousin.

Under the skin, the Arkana is based on the same Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi CMF-B platform as the Nissan Juke and Renault Captur.

Unlike the short-lived, Spanish-built Kadjar it ostensibly replaces in the Renault range, the Arkana is built in Korea as part of Renault’s joint venture with Samsung.

That means it’s easier to get to Australia, and can be priced lower.

One engine will be offered, a 1.3-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol with 115kW of power and 262Nm of torque.

The Arkana is front-drive only, and there’s a dual-clutch seven-speed transmission standard.

Although the Zen and Intens trim levels will be familiar to Renault buyers, the R.S. Line badge used on the range-topper is new to Australia.

Engine

Power in the 2022 Renault Arkana comes from a 1.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol with 115kW of power and 262Nm of torque.

It’s front-wheel drive and has a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The 100km/h takes a claimed 9.1 seconds.

Fuel Economy

Claimed fuel economy for the Arkana is 6.0L/100km on the combined cycle. It has a 50L fuel tank.

Dimensions

The 2022 Renault Arkana measures up at 4568mm long, 1821mm wide and 1571mm tall, riding on a 2720mm wheelbase.

That makes it 341mm longer than the related Captur, on an 81mm longer wheelbase.

Claimed boot space is 353L with the rear seats in place and the boot floor in its highest position, 485L with the floor lowered, and 1268L with the rear seats folded.

Kerb weights range from 1354kg to 1362kg depending on spec.

Safety

The Arkana has a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating, based on testing carried out in 2019.

It scored 96 per cent for adult occupant protection, 83 per cent for child occupant protection, 75 per cent for vulnerable road user protection, and 74 per cent for safety assist.

Servicing and Warranty

The Arkana is backed by a five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty.

Maintenance is required every 12 months or 30,000km, and there’s capped-price servicing for five years.

Four of its first five services prices at $399, and one priced at $789, under the Renault capped-price program.
