Porsche has revealed yet another 911 variant – and it will make drivers who like to work for their performance very happy.
The 2022 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS sits above the Carrera S in the line-up, and will be the only non-GT 911 model with a manual.
A short-throw, seven-speed manual will be a no-cost option on the rear-wheel drive GTS coupe – but not drop-top, Targa, and all-wheel drive models.
With 353kW of power and 570Nm of torque, the turbocharged flat-six engine in the GTS has 22kW and 40Nm more than the Carrera S. It breathes through a sports exhaust as standard.
It’ll hit 100km/h in just 3.3 seconds with all-wheel drive and the eight-speed PDK transmission, 0.3 seconds faster than before.
Along with more power, the 911 GTS rides on a sport chassis that sits 10mm lower than stock, and features an adaptive Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) as standard.
Porsche says the suspension has been developed from the setup in the Turbo and Turbo S, with helper springs on the rear and identical rebound rates.
Also nicked from the Turbo are the 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels, as well as the brakes and the Lightweight Design option, which removes the rear seats and replaces the electrically-adjustable front pews with carbon-backed buckets.
It also gets you a lightweight battery, lightweight window glass, and rear-axle steering as standard.
In keeping with the last GTS, the 2022 model has a full complement of black exterior highlights, the Sport Chrono package, and a smattering of extra red (or Crayon) touches behind the wheel as part of the GTS interior package.
It also has a bodykit that brings it into line with the Sport Design kit offered on other 911 models, and and features unique tail lights.
Standard equipment in Australia will include metallic paint, auto-dimming and power-folding mirrors, parking sensors with a reversing and surround-view camera, lane-change assist, keyless entry and start, power steering plus, seat and steering wheel heating, a Bose surround sound system, and DAB+ digital radio.
The first deliveries will arrive in Australia during the first quarter of 2022.
