2022 Peugeot 3008 price and specs

Peugeot has upped the price on its 3008 mid-sized SUV.

Prices are up across the 3008 petrol and diesel range, which Peugeot puts down to “an increase in production costs”. The GT Sport has also gained a panoramic glass sunroof as standard equipment.

Along with the pricier mainstream range, the 3008 GT Sport Plug-In Hybrid will join the range in March. It’ll go head-to-head with the Mercedes-Benz GLC and BMW X3 plug-in hybrids, along with cheaper alternatives like the MG HS Plus EV, the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Plug-in hybrid EV, and the Ford Escape ST-Line PHEV.

Sales of the 3008 were slow in 2021. Peugeot sold 1172 examples, putting it behind the Skoda Karoq (1709 sales), Renault Koleos (1937), and Ford Escape (1673) in the mid-sized SUV sales race.

It was comfortably the best-selling Peugeot in Australia, however, ahead of the 2008 SUV (625 sales) and Partner van (259 sales).

Engines

The 2022 Peugeot 3008 offers a choice of four engines.

The Allure and GT petrol use a turbocharged 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine producing 121kW of power and 240Nm of torque, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.

The GT Sport also uses a turbocharged 1.6-litre, albeit with automatic stop/start, an eight-speed automatic, and outputs of 133kW and 250Nm.

The GT diesel uses a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder with automatic stop/start, an eight-speed automatic, and outputs of 131kW and 400Nm.

Finally, the GT Sport Plug-in Hybrid is powered by a 147kW petrol engine paired with electric motors on each axle.

The front motor has 81kW, the rear one has 83kW, and the three power sources can combine to offer 222kW of power at once.

Not only is the PHEV the most powerful option in the Peugeot 3008 range, it’s the only model with all-wheel drive. The three power sources work through an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Claimed 0-100km/h times are 9.9 seconds for the Allure and GT petrol, 8.8 seconds for the GT Sport and 9.0 seconds for the GT diesel.

All models are front-wheel drive, except the plug-in hybrid.

Fuel Economy

The 2022 Peugeot 3008 uses 7.3L/100km on the combined cycle in Allure trim, 7.0L/100km in the GT petrol, 5.0L/100km in the GT diesel, and 5.6L/100km in the GT Sport.

Thanks to its 13.2kWh lithium-ion battery pack, the 3008 PHEV has 59km of electric range on the tougher WLTP test cycle. Claimed fuel economy is 1.6 litres per 100km, although that’s contingent on having a full battery.

CO2 emissions are 165g/km in the Allure, 156g/km in the GT petrol, 130g/km in the GT diesel and 128g/km in the GT Sport.

All models have a 53L fuel tank.

Dimensions

The 2022 Peugeot 3008 measures 4447mm long, 1624mm tall, and 1906mm wide (2098mm including the mirrors) on a 2675mm wheelbase.

Boot space is 591L up to the window line, while total luggage space with the second row folded is 1670L up to the roof.

Petrol models weigh 1371kg (tare) and have a maximum braked towing capacity of 1550kg while diesel models weigh 1448kg and can tow 2000kg.

The PHEV has braked and unbraked towing capacities of 1250kg and 750kg.

Servicing and Warranty

The 2022 Peugeot 3008 has a five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty.

It requires servicing every 12 months or 20,000km, whichever comes first.

Peugeot offers five years of capped-price servicing. We’ve contacted Peugeot Australia to confirm service pricing for 2022, however last year the Allure and GT petrol cost $2768 in total to service over five years, the GT Sport cost $2639, and the GT diesel cost $2841.

The Peugeot 3008 has a five-star rating from ANCAP based on testing conducted in 2016.

It received an adult occupant protection score of 86 per cent, child occupant protection of 85 per cent, pedestrian protection of 67 per cent and safety assist of 58 per cent.
