2022 Isuzu MU-X preliminary specifications leaked

Initial details about the hotly-anticipated 2022 Isuzu MU-X off-roader have been leaked to a fan page on Facebook.

According to what appears to be a dealer specification sheet posted in Isuzu DMAX, MU-X Owners Group Australia, the new MU-X will be offered with three trim levels and a choice of 4×2 and 4×4 drivetrains.

The leaked documents claim pricing will start at more than $50,000 once on-road costs are taken into account, and will extend to around $70,000 on-the-road for a range-topping 4×4 LS-T model.

The whole range will feature a full suite of driver assists including autonomous emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, and traffic sign recognition as standard, according to the leaked sheet.

Given the D-Max ute on which the MU-X is based offers the same, that’s no great surprise.

Limited, preliminary specifications for the MU-X are below.

Expect the following to be standard on the 2022 MU-X LS-M:

• 17-inch alloy wheels and 255/65 all-terrain tyres
• 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, DAB+ digital radio, Bluetooth connectivity
• Cloth, manually-adjusted seats
• Bi-LED automatic headlights
• Automatic windscreen wipers

Moving to the mid-range LS-U should bring:

• 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, DAB+ digital radio, Bluetooth connectivity, factory satellite navigation
• 18-inch alloy wheels and 265/50 highway terrain tyres
• Powered lumbar support for driver
• Keyless entry and start
• Powered tailgate
• Dual-zone climate control
• Roof rails

The range-topping LS-T is expected to feature:

• Leather-trimmed seats
• Eight-way power adjustable driver’s seat with powered lumbar
• Four-way power adjustable passenger seat
• 20-inch alloy wheels and 265/50 highway terrain tyres

The 2022 MU-X rides on the same platform as the D-Max and is powered by the same 3.0-litre four-cylinderturbo-diesel with 140kW of power and 450Nm of torque, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.

Along with switchable four-wheel drive and low-range, the MU-X will have a locking rear differential in 4×4 models.

Currently, the outgoing MU-X kicks off at $43,900 and extends to $57,400 before on-road costs.

Although it’s getting long in the tooth, the current MU-X remains popular with the grey nomads and off-roading families of Australia.

Year-to-date it’s sitting on 5000 sales, putting it ahead of the Ford Everest (3774), Mitsubishi Pajero Sport (3961), and Toyota Fortuner (1866) in the sales race.
