BMW has revealed its fastest electric SUV yet – and it’ll be in Australia during the middle of 2022.
The 2022 iX M60 has 455kW of power and 1100Nm of torque in its most powerful drive mode, and sprints to 100km/h in just 3.8 seconds from standstill.
Given a long enough stretch of road the iX M60 will hit an electrically-limited top speed of 250km/h. Claimed range is 566km on the WLTP test cycle thanks to a 112kWh lithium-ion battery pack.
That’s down from the 630km of range on offer in the iX xDrive 50 Sport, which has the same battery pack but less power and torque.
Peak charge speed is 200kW, allowing for 150km of range to be added at a suitable DC public fast charger in just 10 minutes.
When it touches down, the iX M60 will go head-to-head with the Audi e-tron S. It’ll also take on the Tesla Model X Dual Motor, which completes the 100km/h sprint in a claimed 3.9 seconds.
The Model X Plaid dispatches the benchmark sprint in 2.8 seconds.
As you’d expect, the iX M60 has a unique exterior design to signal the extra performance on offer. The wheels are unique, with options measuring up to 22 inches available, and the car pictured features Titanium Bronze trim on the outside.
Inside, it has the same lounge-inspired cabin as the rest of the iX range. The touchscreen uses the latest generation of iDrive running BMW OS 8.0 and the navigation system features augmented reality and cloud-based maps.
Under the skin, the iX M60 has a unique suspension tune to keep its extra performance in check. The big SUV is the second electric BMW to wear an M badge, following in the footsteps of the i4 M50 sedan.
