The BMW 4 Series range is complete in Australia.
First came the coupe, then came the fire-breathing M4. By the end of 2021 they’ll be joined by the Convertible and the Gran Coupe.
UPDATE, 22/08/2022 – BMW Australia has increased the before on-road asking price for the 4 Series Gran Coupe range by up to $3000, depending on the variant. Pricing now starts at $77,900 before on-roads for the 420i Gran Coupe.
“BMW constantly reviews its pricing structure throughout the year, taking into consideration a number of different factors,” said a BMW Australia spokesperson.
“However, we always aim to ensure our products remain appropriately positioned and represent a competitive pricing proposition in the market for our customers.”
The Gran Coupe range mirrors that of the two-door model, with three models topped by the M440i xDrive.
At 4783mm in length, 1852mm in width and 1442mm in height, it measures 143mm longer, 27mm wider and 53mm than its predecessor.
Track width is up 50mm at the front and 29mm at the rear, while the 2856mm wheelbase is 46mm longer than the old car and 5mm longer than that of the 3 Series Sedan.
All prices exclude on-road costs
The BMW 420i and 430i are both powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, sending power to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The entry-level 420i has 135kW of power and 300Nm of torque, while the more expensive 430i ups those numbers to 190kW and 400Nm.
The range-topping M440ixDrive packs a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six petrol engine with 285kW of power and 500Nm of torque, sending power to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic.
BMW claims 0-100km/h times of 7.9 seconds for the 420i, 6.2 seconds for the 430i and 4.7 seconds for the M440i.
The 2022 BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe uses 6.5L/100km on the combined cycle in 420i guise, 6.6L/100km in the 430i and 8.2L/100km in the M440i xDrive.
The 2022 BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe measures 4783mm in length, 1852mm in width and 1442mm in height.
