2021 Suzuki Vitara price and specs

The 2021 Suzuki Vitara range is unchanged from last year but there have been price hikes across the board.

The base model is up by $2500, while all other models are $2000 more expensive for 2021.

The base 1.6-litre Vitara manual now starts at $25,490 before on-road costs. The range tops out with the Vitara Turbo AWD, costing $36,490 before on-roads.

It’s not the only Suzuki to experience price increases this year, with drive-away pricing for the Swift up by $1000-2000 across the board.

The Vitara is the brand’s entry into the popular small SUV segment. Rivals include the Hyundai Kona and Toyota C-HR.

It was narrowly the brand’s best-selling vehicle last year with 4386 sales, just pipping the Swift’s 4332.

Engines

The 2021 Suzuki Vitara is available with two engines.

The base Vitara uses a naturally-aspirated 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine producing 86kW of power and 156Nm of torque. It’s mated to a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters.

The Vitara Turbo uses a turbocharged 1.4-litre four-cylinder engine producing 103kW and 220Nm. It’s mated exclusively to a six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters, though it offers the choice of front- or all-wheel drive.

Fuel Economy

With the 1.6-litre engine equipped, the 2021 Suzuki Vitara consumes a combined 5.8L/100km with the manual transmission and 6.0L/100km with the automatic. It runs on 91RON regular unleaded fuel.

The Vitara Turbo consumes 5.9L/100km on the combined cycle with front-wheel drive or 6.2L/100km with all-wheel drive. This engine runs on 95RON premium unleaded fuel.

All models have a 47L fuel tank.

Dimensions

The 2021 Suzuki Vitara measures 4175mm long, 1610mm tall and 1775mm wide on a 2500mm wheelbase.

The Vitara’s total luggage space is 375L, increasing to 710L with the rear seats folded.

Servicing and Warranty

The 2021 Suzuki Vitara requires servicing every 12 months or 15,000km when equipped with the 1.6-litre and every 12 months or 10,000km with the turbo.

In addition to its five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty, Suzuki offers five years of capped-price servicing for the Vitara. The average service cost each year for the first five years is $295 for the Vitara Turbo or $313 for the base Vitara.

Safety

When the Suzuki Vitara range was tested by ANCAP in 2015, it received a rating of five stars.

The rating was based on a frontal offset score of 14.79 out of 16 and a side impact score of 16 out of 16. Whiplash and pedestrian protection were rated Good and Good, respectively.

All 2021 Suzuki Vitara models come standard with anti-lock brakes, and front, front-side and curtain airbags as well as a driver’s knee airbag.
