The second-generation Subaru Levorg has been photographed sitting undisguised in the Myogi Shrine’s car park, around 60 kilometres away from the company’s factory in Ota, Japan.
The photo seen here was posted online by Twitter user caramelyu_ki, and shows a pre-production Levorg wearing temporary plates.
This vehicle looks almost the same as the Levorg Prototype shown at last year’s Tokyo motor show.
Both cars have angular wheel arches, slim headlight units, a large bonnet scoop, sharply creased intakes on the front bumper, a wavy shoulder line, and a prominent angled wedge shape above the rear wheels.
As far as we can see, the only major difference is the design of the alloy wheels.
Subaru blacked out the windows of both the Levorg Prototype and Levorg STI Sport Prototype, and did not display the interior of either car.
If the first-generation Levorg is anything to go by, the new model will share its dashboard and most of its cabin with the Impreza.
Under the skin the next-generation Levorg will use the Subaru Global Platform, which already forms the basis of the current Impreza and Forester, as well as the upcoming Liberty and Outback.
Last year’s concept car was said to be powered by a new 1.8-litre turbocharged four-cylinder boxer engine, although no power, torque or performance figures were quoted.
Reports indicate the new Levorg will go on sale in Japan from July this year.
