An updated Skoda Karoq has been snapped out and about, packing what appear to be a glut of very, very small changes.

An updated Skoda Karoq is in the works, although it’s hard to see what changes the Czech car maker has in store.

Even though there’s camouflage applied to both ends of the car, the bumpers look identical to the ones fitted to today’s Karoq. Same goes for the grille, headlights, and tail-lights.

It’s possible this is an early prototype to test out drivetrain, electronics and aerodynamics upgrades, and more visible design changes will come with later vehicles.

We expect the updated Karoq to at least feature new bumpers, a revised grille, and new graphics for the headlights and tail-lights.

Skoda’s latest infotainment systems should also be part of the package.

Indeed the recently-revealed Seat Ateca facelift should provide a few clues as to what’s in store for the Karoq. The Ateca and Karoq not only share a platform, but are produced side-by-side in Skoda’s Kvasiny factory.

In Europe, the revised Ateca comes is available with the following petrol engine options: 81kW 1.0-litre Miller-cycle turbo, 85kW 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo, 110kW 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder, and 140kW 2.0-litre turbo.

Diesel options are limited to a 2.0-litre turbo with either 85kW or 110kW. All-wheel drive is available with the Ateca’s range-topping engines, while the entry-level engines are only offered with manual transmissions.

It also features new grille, LED lights, bumpers, upgraded infotainment systems, and improved interior trim.
