    Engines

The 2021 Renault Trafic Pro comes with a 1.6-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine which produces 85kW of power and 300Nm of torque.

The Premium has two available powertrains: a 1.6-litre twin-turbocharged diesel unit which produces 103kW and 340Nm or a 2.0-litre single-turbo diesel engine making 125kW and 380Nm.

The 85kW and 103kW engines come only with a six-speed manual, while the 125kW engine comes only with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

    Fuel Economy

The 2021 Renault Trafic uses 6.6L/100km with the 85kW engine, 6.2L/100km with the 103kW engine, and 7.3L/100km with the 125kW engine.

All Trafic models have an 80L fuel tank.

    Dimensions

The 2021 Renault Trafic measures 4999mm long, 1956mm wide and 1971mm tall in Short Wheelbase guise, with the Long Wheelbase stretching to 5399mm long.

The cargo bay measures 2537mm long (2937mm long in the Long Wheelbase), 1662mm wide and 1387mm tall.

    Servicing and Warranty

All Renault Trafic models have a five-year/200,000km warranty and five years of roadside assist.

Renault offers five years of capped-price servicing for the Trafic, with services capped at $599 except for the fourth year which costs $1299 in 1.6-litre models and $899 with the 2.0-litre turbo-diesel.

Services are required every 12 months or 30,000kms, whichever comes first.

    Safety

The 2021 Renault Trafic doesn’t have a rating from ANCAP, though there’s a three-star Euro NCAP rating from 2015 based on testing of the people-mover version not sold here.

While there’s no ANCAP rating for the Trafic, its rebadged Mitsubishi Express twin received a zero-star ANCAP rating in 2021 with scores of 55 per cent for adult occupant protection, 40 per cent for vulnerable road user protection and just seven per cent for safety assist.

Like the Express, the Trafic misses out on any kind of active safety technology like autonomous emergency braking even though some of this technology is available on some European-market Trafic models.

The Trafic comes standard with front, front-side and front curtain airbags, rear parking sensors and a reversing camera.
