Europeans love wagons and yet they’ve had no upscale, all-electric wagons to choose from. That changes with the new Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo.
While Australians are less enthusiastic about wagons, two variants of the new Cross Turismo will still touch down in Australia from the third quarter of 2021.
With its longer and flatter roof, Porsche claims there’s 36mm more headroom in rear seats of the Cross Turismo compared to the regular Taycan.
The Cross Turismo’s boot can accommodate 446L worth of stuff – an increase of 80L – with all seats in play, or 1212L when the rear bench is folded down.
If you need more space, there’s a new specially-designed roof box rated for speeds up to 200km/h.
Aside from the more practical rear end, the Cross Turismo is also distinguished by plastic wheel arch extensions, and unique lower aprons and side sills.
The Cross Turismo is 4974mm long, 1967mm wide, 1409mm tall, and rides on a 2904mm wheelbase.
Compared to the Taycan sedan, the wagon is 11mm longer, 1mm wider, 28mm taller, and has a 4mm longer wheelbase.
Aerodynamic efficiency has taken a hit with the drag coefficient raised from 0.22 to 0.26 in the wagon.
At launch in Europe there will be four drivetrains available. All feature a dual-motor all-wheel drive system, and the company’s 93.4kWh battery pack.

Only the two mid-range models, the Taycan 4S Cross Turismo and Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo, will be available in Australia.
Pricing for the Taycan 4S Cross Turismo starts from $201,000, while the Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo begins at $271,200. All prices include taxes, but exclude on-road costs.
Adaptive air suspension is standard across the Taycan Cross Turismo range that in Gravel Mode can raise the ride height by 30mm.
It can also be set to automatically lift the car up at specific locations, such as driveway entrances or speed humps near home.
For those wanting to do a little more off-the-beaten track there’s an off-road package that raises the ride height by a further 30mm.
In addition to the new wagon body, Porsche also unveiled two electric bikes: the road-focussed eBike Sport and the eBike Cross for dirt tracks. Both of these bikes can be hauled by the Cross Turismo on the specially-designed two-bike carrier.
The Taycan Cross Turismo is available for order now, and deliveries – including those for Australia – are due to commence during the third quarter of 2021.
