Nissan’s most powerful GT-R offering has received some fresh new exterior touches to keep it in fine form.
The 2021 Nissan GT-R Nismo is set to reach Japanese showrooms in October, though local launch timing and pricing have yet to be announced.
The biggest addition is a subtraction, with a Nismo-exclusive carbon fibre bonnet shedding a further 100 grams from the front end.
If the carbon fibre bonnet wasn’t enough, you’ll find carbon fibre on the side sills and the front and rear ends, including the boot and spoiler.
The updated Nismo comes with 20-inch Rays forged aluminium wheels with red accents.
It also offers a Nismo-exclusive Stealth Grey paint job, said to be inspired by track tarmac that GT-Rs have competed on.
Nissan’s new logo features on the boot lid and centre wheel caps.
The GT-R’s 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V6 remains unchanged with 441kW of power and 652Nm of torque.
It’s still nothing to be sneezed at, with its turbochargers sourced from the GT3 race car and the engine hand built by a Takumi technician.
Power is sent through a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox to an all-wheel-drive system.
Bringing all that power to a halt are 410mm carbon ceramic rotors at the front and 390mm in the rear with Brembo calipers all round.
The front and rear suspension use electronic Bilstein DampTronic dampers to give, as Nissan says, “exceptional grip levels and progressive handling response at the limit”.
Inside you’ll find the new Nismo to be much like the last, with surfaces covered in Alcantara including the steering wheel and the Recaro racing seats.
The GT-R was introduced all the way back in 2007, making it the oldest member of Nissan’s local line-up.
It still has a few tricks up its sleeve, however, with Nissan reportedly working on both a mild-hybrid version and a 529kW Final Edition according to BestCarWeb.
