The 2021 Mazda MX-30 has been awarded top marks in ANCAP testing.
The compact SUV earned a five-star rating on the back of a 93 per cent score for adult occupant protection, 87 per cent for child occupant protection, 68 per cent for vulnerable road user protection, and 74 per cent for safety assist.
Atop 10 airbags, the MX-30 features the following active safety equipment:
- Autonomous emergency braking
- Rear cross-traffic alert
- Blind-spot monitoring
- Lane-keeping assist
- Adaptive cruise control
- Rear parking sensors
Opting for the Astina or the Vision Technology package other models brings:
- Front cross-traffic alert
- Front parking sensors
- Adaptive LED headlights
- Surround-view camera
The rating applies to all M Hybrid models, along with the upcoming pure-electric E35 Astina version.
“The MX-30 is the first vehicle we’ve rated that is equipped with the full range of autonomous emergency braking (AEB) systems as standard,” said ANCAP chief executive, Carla Hoorweg.
“While performance of the pedestrian and cyclist-detecting AEB system showed some room for improvement, the Australasian-specified model offers a superior level of standard fitment over that of its European equivalent, providing Australian and New Zealand consumers with an increased level of safety.”
