2021 Honda Civic price and specs

The 10th-generation Honda Civic hatch and sedan range entered 2021 unchanged, and for the last few months of its life its range has been trimmed and re-priced.

UPDATE, 6/7/2021 – Honda has slimmed down the 2021 Civic range ahead of the launch of the new model later this year. We’ve updated this article and brought it forward.

Orders closed earlier in 2021 for the Type R, while the sedan has been run-out ahead of the new generation model’s arrival.

The base VTi and top-spec VTi-LX hatchbacks have also been withdrawn.

That reduces the range from 11 to just three variants, opening at $31,000 drive-away for the VTi-S under the new Honda Price Promise fixed pricing scheme effective from July 1, 2021.

The 11th-generation model is due here in the fourth quarter of 2021 but will be offered only as a hatchback and initially only with a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine.

A hybrid will follow in 2022, while a redesigned Type R has also been confirmed.

Engines

The base engine in the 2021 Honda Civic range is a naturally-aspirated 1.8-litre four-cylinder engine producing 104kW of power and 174Nm of torque.

The VTi-L and RS and VTi-LX use a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 127kW of power and 220Nm of torque.

All models use a continuously-variable transmission (CVT) and front-wheel drive.

Fuel Economy

The 2021 Honda Civic uses 6.4L/100km on the combined cycle in the VTi-S and RS and 6.1L/100km in the VTi-L.

All Civic models run on 91RON regular unleaded and have a 47L fuel tank.

Dimensions

The 2021 Honda Civic hatch measures 4515mm long, 1799mm wide and 1421mm tall with a 2700mm wheelbase.

Boot space is 414L except the RS, where it measures 340L.

Servicing and Warranty

The entire 2021 Honda Civic range is covered by a five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty with five years of free roadside assistance.

Maintenance in the Civic is required every 12 months or 10,000km – whichever comes first.

Each of the car’s first five services cost $125, meaning five years of servicing will cost you just $625.

Safety

When tested back in 2017, the Honda Civic received a five-star ANCAP safety rating.

The Civic received a frontal offset score of 14.75 out of 16, a side impact score of 14.93 out of 16, and Good ratings for whiplash and pedestrian protection. The overall score was 34.6 out of 37.

Front, front-side and curtain airbags, a reversing camera and front and rear parking sensors are standard on all 2021 Honda Civic models.

The VTi-S has only LaneWatch blind-spot monitoring in its list of active safety technology.
