Korea’s new answer to the BMW 3 Series has been unveiled.
The 2021 Genesis G70 has been revealed overnight, ahead of an Australian launch during the first half of 2021.
While it may look like an all-new model, the new G70 is actually a mid-life refresh – the current generation only launched three years ago, almost to the day.
Externally, the G70 borrows heavily from its larger stablemates – including the G80 and GV80 – sporting Genesis’s ‘Athletic Elegance’ design language featuring quad-lamp motifs at both ends and a striking new low-set crest grille.
There’s also new wheels, a new duck-tail bootlid spoiler, and an overall more athletic exterior aesthetic.
We only have one image of the interior so far, but we can see there haven’t been too many changes bar the new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
Genesis says the new unit features an exclusive in-house UI (user interface) which supports over-the-air wireless updates and valet mode.
The wireless charging pad below the centre stack has been shifted into a horizontal position as well to accommodate “ever-changing” smartphone sizes.
“The new Genesis G70 will engage customers with its dynamic design and the latest innovations in safety and luxury,” said a Genesis spokesperson.
Further specification details for global models will be announced next month.
Australian models, meanwhile, will be detailed closer to the new G70’s local sales launch in the first half of 2021.
