The 2021 Toyota C-HR is available in six variants, with pricing ranging from $30,915 before on-road costs for the base front-wheel drive model to $37,665 before on-roads for the range-topping KobaHybrid.
Toyota pioneered the crossover vehicle with the RAV4, but it was late to the market with a model to slot in beneath it, with the first-generation C-HR launching globally in 2016.
The C-HR represents around eight per cent of sales in the small SUV class, well behind the segment-leading Mitsubishi ASX.

The Toyota C-HR range is available with a 1.2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine with 85kW and 185Nm, mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT) and either front- or all-wheel drive.
This engine is available across the C-HR range.
There’s also a 1.8-litre hybrid drivetrain for the range-topping C-HR Koba, with a total of 90kW, an e-CVTtransmission, and front-wheel drive.
The front-drive 2020 Toyota C-HR uses 6.4L/100km on the ADR combined cycle, while the all-wheel drive version is rated at 6.5L/100km.
Fuel economy in the C-HR Hybrid is just 4.3L/100km.
The 2021 Toyota C-HR measures 4390mm long, 1565mm tall and 1795mm wide, with a 2640mm wheelbase.
Moving to the GR Sport bumps the length up to 4405mm and drops the height to 1780mm.
The car’s boot measures 318L with the rear seats up.
The C-HR has an ANCAP safety rating of five stars, with scores of 87 per cent in adult occupant protection, 77 per cent in child occupant protection, 65 per cent in vulnerable road user protection, and 68 per cent in safety assist.
All 2020 C-HR models come standard with autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, a reversing camera, parking sensors, trailer sway control, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control. The range-topping Koba also features a surround-view camera.
For the 2021 model year, Toyota introduced daytime cyclist detection for the forward AEB, rear cross-traffic AEB for Koba variants, Lane Tracing Assist, traffic sign assist and Emergency Steering Assist (ESA).

Maintenance on the C-HR is required every 12 months or 15,000km – whichever comes first.
