Kia Australia has issued a safety recall for more than 2200 examples of the MY2020 Carnival people mover over a potential fire hazard.
“The positive terminal on the alternator may not have been tightened to specification during assembly,” the Korean manufacturer says in its recall notice.
“Should the terminal become loose, this may increase the resistance to the alternator and may lead to heat being generated, which could result in a fire within the engine compartment.”
If the alternator overheats and causes an engine fire, there’s a risk of an accident, serious injury, or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.
- A total of 2241 vehicles affected by this recall
- Affected vehicles were available for sale between 30 August 2019 and 19 August 2020
