Mitsubishi Motors Australia has recalled the 2013-2020 Outlander plug-in hybrid to fix a problem with the 12V battery.
“The 12 volt AGM (absorbent glass mat) battery located in the rear of the luggage compartment of may have been replaced prior to/or after sale, with a non-AGM battery,” the company says in its recall notice.
“A non-AGM battery may release hydrogen sulphide gas in the event of battery failure. If the vehicle is involved in a collision there is the potential that acid could leak.”
Mitsubishi will contact owners of the affected vehicles and advise them to organise a free fix with their nearest dealer.
