Hyundai Australia has recalled the 2006-2009 Santa Fe SUV to fix a problem with the anti-lock brakes.
According to the company, a circuit board in the anti-lock braking system (ABS) module can short circuits when exposed to moisture.
The problem can cause an engine fire, even when the car is turned off because the circuit is always powered. Hyundai says the braking system’s function isn’t affected by the recall.
- A total of 9393 vehicles are affected by the recall

Hyundai is advising owners to park their cars in an open space away from flammable materials – instead of in a garage.
The company will contact owners when parts become available in July.
