In a case of age not corresponding with maturity, a 55-year-old man has copped major penalties for allegedly engaging in hoon-like behaviour in his Ford Mustang in heavy traffic.

According to a Facebook post by the NSW Police Force’s Traffic and Highway Patrol Command, officers from Ryde Highway Patrol pulled over the driver on the M2 Motorway on Friday, June 28 around 5:10pm.

He allegedly entered the M2 in Baulkham Hills, accelerating “harshly” before merging from the first lane to the third “around other vehicles” in heavy peak-hour traffic.

Ryde Highway Patrol officers clocked the driver allegedly travelling at 163km/h in a 100km/h zone, and at the completion of the speed check he was allegedly travelling at 159km/h. Officers subsequently pulled him over.

The driver was issued a traffic infringement notice for ‘Exceed speed over 45km/h – LiDAR’.

He had his driver’s licence suspended for six months, his car’s number plates were seized, and his registration was cancelled for three months.

Not only that, but he was issued a fine of $2794 and six demerit points.

The driver tested negative to all roadside breath and drug testing.

Photos show it was some Americana pulling over Americana, with one of Traffic and Highway Patrol Command’s Chrysler 300 SRTs behind it with its flashing lights on – oh, and a BMW 530d.
